The

Walton College of Business

Ceremonial Mace

The ceremonial Mace is used by institutions to symbolize the power to grant diplomas. I was commissioned to make the business colleges mace and decided to stretch my design capabilities by making one of the major elements out of a material I love but would not venture to use. I designed this piece and made a model in same size plaster and gave it to master wood carver Craig Young to carve. He was faithful to my design. The piece is made out of Cherry wood, sand cast and lost wax cast bronze. The lost wax sphere was cast from my wax model by Raymond Gibby of Garfield Arkansas
